About The College Football Uniform Database

I grew up in San Diego, CA in a San Diego State University alumni family. As an avid watcher and player of sports my entire life, I became an SDSU fan, growing up going to both basketball and football games. Fast forward to college, and I made the decision to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. A great school in a beautiful town where I met many of my closest friends today. However, if you are at all familiar with the university, you probably are aware that Cal Poly SLO is not a great school to go to if you enjoy watching college sports, with historically some pretty dismal basketball and football programs (Cal Poly admin if you’re reading this I’m sorry but you know it’s true). That being said, It’s been difficult to immerse myself in the college football world as I didn’t really have a competitive team to root for and it felt wrong to claim San Diego State as I didn’t actually go to school there.

In my horrible predicament (possibly being dramatic), I asked myself, “how can I bring value to the college football community while also selfishly giving myself something extra to pay attention to?”. And thus, the College Football Uniform database was born. The purpose of CFB Uniform Database is to create an easily digestible repository that houses every uniform that a college football team wears in the duration of a season. It is my goal to do this for all college football programs, both FBS and FCS each and every year to ensure that great uniforms that an NCAA football team wears are not lost to history.

This project is created and run by Ryan Novak, begun in 2024 and starting with the 2023 NCAA football season. As I do have a day job, I am doing my very best to add every school and their uniforms as quickly as possible in my free time. Please have patience as scraping the internet for every uniform worn in every game does take some time. Thank you for stopping in and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy working on it!
